Department of Children Youth & Families (DCYF)

DCYF wanted to evaluate the usability and accessibility of ececareers.del.wa.gov, a career planning portal for early childhood professionals, originally built and launched in 2015.

Approximately 4 years after the initial planning, development, and launch of the Career Planning Portal, DCYF hired Parallel to conduct a full usability evaluation to assess how the website was serving the intended audience and provide recommendations for improvement.

Parallel engaged real users of the site via surveys and direct user testing.

We also reviewed traffic trends, click activity, and a number of analytic sources to better understand how users were utilizing the site and identify any potential pain points encountered while navigating the site. We found that key site features could be upgraded and improved for a better experience.  We compiled our findings and analysis in a comprehensive, easy-to-read report that included a prioritized list of recommendations ready for implementation.

Parallel project managed and implemented top priority recommendations the agency wanted to address.

Already an established partner with the agency, DCYF signed a continuous improvement style contract with us to implement updates to the website based on our findings and recommendations. We managed the entire project and implemented development changes to key site features.
